almosthonest: (California for Obama! Yay!)
Today is a historic day for not only we Americans, but for our friends and fellow citizens all over the world. Today is a day of hope and searching for change.

Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States today, and I celebrated along with so many millions of people who loved and supported (and still support) his campaign and success.

Our President has a long and tough road ahead of him, however, I personally believe that he will bring the change he has promoted and promised. Is it going to take a lot of time? Absolutely. But it will come, and things will change for the better.

My support and congratulations go out to President Obama and his wife and beautiful daughters, and to Vice-President Biden and his wife and children as well. This inauguration is the start of something good, and I believe that down to my core.

This morning as I was opening my store, I had the TV going and I was trying hard not to cry over this historic event. I was feeling full of joy and pride. My opening associate Kewana came at 8:45 and she greeted me with a grin and a huge hug, and said something along the lines of "this is a joyous day!". I hugged her back and we watched a bit of the ceremony this morning. She and I and my boss Summer watched off and on all day and fought back tears.

We are a part of history. And this history is good. I am so glad to be alive in this generation, wherein we look to the future and welcome hope.

For those of you who also support our new President, I congratulate you too. And for those who did not support him in the past, I hope you are willing to support him now as our leader. And if not, that is okay too--to each their own.

I love you all very much. Happy Inauguration Day!

(and aww! the footage of the President and First Lady dancing to "At Last" is so beautiful. And it made me cry. Meep.)
