Holy crap. I started writing the long suffering baseball novel yesterday. I am slowly putting together character files/sketches, but I have the names all set up and the overall team put together.

I have the opening scene mostly written and so many little dialogue pieces floating in my head.

Ultimately, my focus for 2011 is still In The Spotlight, (because it is my first love, and I can never leave Ava, Ryan, Lily, Nathan, and the rest of the story behind) but since my pledge for this year's [livejournal.com profile] getyourwordsout is 150K words, I thought I'd put another project into play. Right now, the baseball fic is called Stealing Second, but that is absolutely subject to change. I actually have the title 3-2 Count fluttering around in my brain, but who knows.

I also have a hankering to get back to the NCIS series and work with Tony and Hannah again this year. We shall see.

2011 is going to be great. I can feel it. I've got school starting in a week from Monday, and I've got my sweet Cody kitten keeping me happy, and I'm hoping that I will keep my job after this week. My boss is deciding which of the holiday hires to keep on. I am hopeful I will be one of them, but I also know that it's not the end of the world if he doesn't keep me on. I love my co-workers and the place of work in general, but I've already decided that if I should happen to get let go, I will get through the first month back in school, then job hunt again. With luck, I will be done with my AA degree by the end of 2011, or Spring of 2012 at the latest, and I can dive into a new career with a renewed energy toward work. But I can't lie...any good vibes you're willing to share with me about keeping my current job or at least awhile longer would be appreciated! =)

Ugh. Off to bed. Seriously. Work at 10 am.

Happy 2011 to you all! This year will be excellent for so many reasons. I have a good feeling about it. *g*

Am spending New Year's Eve/Day with the parents. Will most likely watch the Rose Bowl tomorrow (Go Penn State!) and relax in preparation for getting back into the swing of work things on Monday morning. I did my paperwork at my new workplace yesterday and met some of the staff and fellow management, and I already love it there. More comfortable, and more laid-back. So awesome.

Being more laid-back sort of got me thinking about 2009 and what I'd like to achieve this year.

I started out by joining [livejournal.com profile] getyourwordsout and pledging to write 200,000 words total this year. I am committing myself to this goal, both to continue on with the Reasons Why 'verse for Tony and Hannah and the NCIS crew), and to finally get my novel going. I know I cn do this, and probably putter on other challenges and fics throughout the year.

I then followed the example of one of my favorite scrapbook-er/bloggers (this is something she does every year) and chose a word of the year. I chose Focus as my word of the year, and it ties into my goals/resolutions, really.

First of all, my first goal is simply to write. This year, I am going to focus on the novel and on Reasons Why (because I love it so darn much), and I am not going to dwell so much on fixing and editing--just to write because it is what I truly love to do. I am going to write more words and I am going to write more often.

I am going to budget better and organize more. I am going to budget time AND money. Now that I have this new job, I can't take anything for granted! On the organizational front, I am going to clean more, and I am going to keep my daily planner going this year. I bought a fantastic hardcover 2009 daily planner Moleskine for 1/2 off at Borders the other day, and I also ordered a soft cover pocket weekly planner/notebook to keep in my purse or at work. I am going to schedule my time and schedule better! I am going to write things down more than I already do, and keep it organized! Heh.

I am going to socialize more and exercise/get out more this year!

I am going to work on being a better manager and continue to grow and learn in my position and love and learn from my new team. I am going to listen and give feedback and accept the same!

I want to read more classic books this year and mix them into my library with my Nora Roberts/JD Robb collection and my Dresden Files collection.

I am going to take more pictures this year and also continue to work on scrapbooking.

I am also not going to sleep on/give up on my Giants this season. Heh. Not when we have Timmy, Zito, Matt, and now Randy Johnson (which squee!! I am so excited about). Plus Pablo, and Bengie and Randy and Aaron, and Jack and all my boys! I have faith this year, man. Faith.

But really these aren't goals, but my FOCUS moments. Focus is my word for 2009. I can focus better and focus more.

Happy 2009, everyone. I love you all! =)

HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone! It's a bit before midnight here on the West Coast, but I've got to get to bed. Dad and I are leaving at 7:30 am to go to San Francisco. A co-worker gave us tickers to the 49er/Texans game. Woo! I get to see my beloved David Carr again. *g*

Anyway. This year has had its ups and downs, but it's still been great and I am grateful for lots of things. Here's hoping 2006 is fabulous for all of you and that may more dreams come true this year.

Before I go, can I just randomly say that I am now utterly addicted to CSI: NY? Gah. Dang franchise of TV shows. Pretty boys kills me. I heart Danny and Flack. Seriously. Gah.

Bed now. And oooh...the Ryan looks so good in that suit. I love him to pieces.

Happy New Year!

Good night.
