It's been awhile. Not a ton to say,but hey.

Valentine's Day was nice, and spent with my parents. Saturday we went to a later lunch and went to the movies. The mom and I saw "Valentine's Day" (love!), and the dad went and saw "The Wolfman". There was drooling over Eric Dane by me, for the record. Guh. Just guh. But the dad gave me a pretty red rose (which sits on my nightstand at the moment) and a Target gift card, and the mom gave me a gorgeous new pink purse and matching wallet. Hee. I am addicted to pink and to purses.

Work is good. Tiring, but good.

Am trying to plan a trip to Oregon in April to see the BFF (hahaha!), her husband, and my niece and nephews. Hoping it will all pan out! It also looks like Dad and I will be going to Vegas sometime this summer. I haven't been there in 7 years!

The writing is a challenge so far this year, but I'm relatively sticking to it! Some days are better than others, let me tell you! I have so much story in my brain, and yet, sometimes it just doesn't flow. But I'll get it there, and by golly, I'll have 100k written for In The Spotlight. Because...yes.

Music wise...am completely in love with Lady Antebellum's sophomore effort "Need You Now". They sound amazing, and there's not one song I skip. Amazing songs again. NYN is a given, but I'm in love with "Love This Pain" and "Hello World". Gah. And I lovelovelove how Charles thanks his brother Josh again in the liner notes. It made me smile. I am so looking forward to Josh's new country album within the next few months.

Am currently listening to several live shows from John Mayer that I dled yesterday. He's been doing "In Your Atmosphere" again lately---I love that! At Birmingham, he mixed it with "Something's Missing". Sigh. Love! And geez, he did "Free Fallin'" too. He's trying to kill me. Seriously. I'm still in love with Battle Studies as well. Heartbreak Warfare just kills me. Thank goodness it's the current single!

Ugh. Bed now. Work most of the week, and have Friday off. I've been glued to the Olympic coverage, and I'm knitting a blanket for a friend/former co-worker who is having a baby this summer. So many projects! Heh.

Hope you all are well. Good night! (morning?!?)

So [livejournal.com profile] brightillusions and our friend Jess went to the Kiss Country $5 Concert tonight at Woodward Park.

Heidi Newfield was awesome, and sounded great. The crowd liked her a lot, and she had family in the audience. Some cousins are going to Fresno State, apparently. Unforunately, it took an hour before she came on between her and the opening opening act. Haha. People were restless.

Then Lady Antebellum came on, and Hillary, Dave, and Charles were absolutely fantastic. They did:
Looking For A Good Time
All We'd Ever Need
Slow Down Sister
Love's Looking Good On You
Things People Say
Home Is Where The Heart Is
A Woman Scorned
Long Train Runnin'
Love Don't Live Here

So awesome. The crowd stood and sang along with LDLH, and they were so tickled. All three of them were so adorable, and I think my dad got some really great pictures with this fancy school camera. I also got some great audio recorded on my phone. We left right before Keith Anderson came out, but we had fun.

Hee. I am so happy tonight. Yay!

So Leo the computer is back. Woo to the freakin' hoo! And I didn't lose a darn thing. This teaches me to back my crap up! Mom and I are going to go grab a flash drive tomorrow sometime, methinks. Meep. I about died thinking I was going to lose everything for Reasons Why and for my novel. But I lost nothing in the great Crash of 2008, and I am beyond relieved!

Work was--cruddy last week. This week will be better. It has to be. DM visit on Wednesday, oh joy. We'll probably be in my office for like, three hours compiling feedback for her conference call on Thursday. Goody. Heh. No, I like the feedback thing, as I am the district feedback captain. Whee! But yeah, work will be better once the weather decides what the crap it wants to do. It was like, *95 here today, ugh. It's going to be a nasty summer.

New music! Yay. I finally got ahold of Nelly Furtado's "In God's Hands", the duet version with Keith Urban, which is phenomenal. They blend so well together. Keith rocks, as always. Then, as I was puttering on the country page on iTunes, I found a new artist who covered one of my absolute favorite Train songs. This guy does "I'm About To Come Alive" just beautifully, so I had to spend the .99 and get the dang song. And as usual, it makes me cry. A sap, I am.

Lady A debuted at #1 on Billboard last week. Was psyched for Charles, Hillary, and Dave.

I think I got flirted with via text messages this evening. And it may have been fun to kind of flirt back. We'll see what happens with that, if anything. Eeep.

Going to bed soon. Trying to scribble down three plots to use for May's [livejournal.com profile] fic_variations prompts. I am a glutton for punishment and signed up, hoping it'll kickstart the muse.

Good night.

So my computer is out of commission for at least the next week and a half. Leo the Gateway gave me the blue screen of death on start up yesterday afternoon. Ugh. I took it in to Best Buy and--yeah, it'll take awhile. I've already resigned myself to the fact that it will most likely be a hard drive crash and that I am going to lose everything on there. Some stuff I can recover from my old laptop, but I'm going to lose a lot of my writing, including anything I did for my new novel plot and most of the other stories I wrote for my Reasons Why series. I have a couple that I posted, but I had at least 6 other things going. Sigh. I'm upset about it, but it'll also teach me to back stuff up. Grr.

Of course, it may not be the hard drive, and that would be nice. Haha.

On the upside of the week, the parents and I went to Vintage Days @ Fresno State yesterday and walked around the craft booths and such. Plus, Lady Antebellum's self-titled debut album came out on Tuesday and it is beyond awesome. I am so proud to be a fan of Charles, Hillary, and Dave! A phenomenal debut, man. I can't wait to see what they pick as the follow up single to "Love Don't Live Here".

Am out at the mom and dad's paying a couple of bills online. At least I have that! Thank goodness for parents. *g*

Hope everyone has a good week! =)

So I've been sick for over a week now. Since the day of the George Strait concert, actually. I was dead to the world on that Saturday and Super Bowl Sunday (in which, btw, the NY Giants ROCKED. Bwah.) and still not so good on that Monday and Tuesday. The overall sickinesspart of over, and now I'm left with this lingering cough. So I go to the doctor yesterday to try and get rid of said cough. The doctor tells me my cough is due to inflamed vocal cords. I was like "...", and he told me to take ibuprofen and go on as much vocal rest as I can. I was annoyed. A) I was sick, so why can't this just be a normal lingering cough? and B) I work retail. I have to talk to the clients. I can't just turn off my voice. Color me annoyed. I am a bit ashamed to say I kind of melted down after that appointment. I went home and cried and get mad and was just plain stupid. I cried most of last evening, just out of frustration about a stupid cough. Yeah hi, I'm 26 years old, really.

Thankfully I have today off as well to try and get my head back in order. I've been out of sorts lately, to be honest.

And I have writer's block. Probably one of the worst cases I've had in a long time. I want to write so badly and I've got absolutely nothing. I've spent my blockage time hunting down photos for my novel characters. On the upside, I have several people cast, which makes me happy. Now If I could just write the blasted plot, all would be good.

I've also been spending my non-writing time with a new TV obsession. And dear lord, why must I get addicted to pretty? And shows that are on The CW!?! I made the mistake of being very bored on a Tuesday evening about 4 weeks ago and watching One Tree Hill. Yeah, I admit it. I've become utterly freakin' addicted to this show. I've now got Seasons 1-4 on DVD and I've watched every episode of this new season so far as well. I'm hooked, and that's so sad. Heh. What can I say? Chad Michael Murray is hot. I hated him on Gilmore Girls, but now? Yeah, adore. I'm going to call this the David Caruso Syndrome. I seem to adore people that I used to dislike after giving them a good chance. Oy. (Speaking of the Caruso (who I still looooove and adore), CSI: Miami comes back at the end of March. Woohoo! ). But yeah, bad evil new TV addictions. Meep. I am so ashamed. Hahah.

Still addicted to "Special Company", Josh Kelley's new CD. I finally got a physical copy, and was pleasantly surprised to see which two songs his brother Charles co-wrote. They were so not the ones I was thinking they'd be. I was also glad to see Hillary and Dave on the album too. Josh gives love to Lady Antebellum. Whose album, by the way, drops on April 15th. Yippee!

Am trying to cheer myself up today, apparently. My iTunes is on shuffle and it's now playing "My Stupid Mouth". Huh. It knows me too well. Or it knows I heart the Mayer. Either way, yay.

So it looks like I'll be moving into a new apartment in the next couple of weeks. I've been wanting out of my current one for a couple of months now, and I just haven't gone hunting for a new place. Until today. I had today off and my dad came and we went apartment hunting. We went to three places, and the first one we went to looks like it is a winner. It's a bit closer to work, and right near a big park and such. I'll be taking a one bedroom this time, as opposed to the two bedroom I have right now. So yay! New place. Dad and I are going to go file paperwork on Monday and such They had an upstairs available immediately, so i might just take that one rather than see if a downstairs becomes available in the next few weeks. I still have to pay December's rent here anyway, because my lease ends on Dec. 31st. But we';ll see what they have to say on Monday. I'm kind of excited and I can't wait to be in a new place!

Work is--work. We're struggling to make business happen and it's frustrating, because while I know we've only been open for three and a half weeks, I still feel like I am failing. It's so stupid, but I just feel it. Foot traffic sucks, and it's just not going the way I had hoped, and not the way my higher ups were hoping wither. Sigh. I know there isn't a lot I can do about it, but I still feel like I am just not up to par. On the upside, I have a fantastic staff, and my team rocks. I'm still waiting to hear how my assistant manager candidate did on her interview with our DM, and then I'm hoping to hire her in time for Christmas. I need a manager that can absolutely do 40 hours a week.

I know things really can only get better with my store--this is the majorly rocky part, and I just need to muddle through and get things going however I can! It will get better, and I just have to keep telling myself that, no matter how tough it is.

I am completely in love with this song. I can't wait for Lady A's album next year. Love Don't Live Here is awesome, and Charles, Hillary, and Dave rock. I put the song on my MySpace profile too, just because I adore it. Charles has an amazing voice, but it obviously runs in the Kelley family. Josh's new album drops early next year, and I am way excited for that too!

Speaking of albums--I am so excited to run to Target on my lunch break on Tuesday to grab Keith Urban's greatest hits album "18 Kids". Not like I don't have 95% of the songs already, but hey, it's Keith. I am so road tripping to San Jose probably in February or March to see his and Carrie Underwood's tour. I think I'm going to drag the parents with me, and if they won't, I bet I can get coworker!Jess to come with me. I am beyond excited for the "Love, Pain, and the whole crazy Carnival Ride" Tour. The name made me laugh. It's so not original, but it's cute.

Spent the evening watching Gilmore Girls S7, finished that, and ended up watching Proof Of Life. I hadn't watched it in a long time. I'd forgotten how awesome that movie is, if not for the action itself, but for the simple fact that it's two of my favorite actors all in one place. Russell Crowe AND David Caruso? So happy. DC does the patented Horatio head tilt several times and it makes me laugh--considering it was way before Miami even started! Hee!

I have got to get to writing again. Ava and Ryan keep creeping into my head, as do Hannah and Tony. And Hannah and Tony seem to be meeting Horatio in the back of my brain too, because I puttered on a little future!family snippet earlier today that has Horatio meeting their daughter for the first time and Hannah asking him to be her godfather. I have NO idea where that came from, but I've now got to come up with a way H would have met Tony. Meep. I'll come up with something, and if not, I'll beg you the flist to help me.

Ugh. Off to bed now. Work 10-7, and then off Monday for apartment stuff and ATL conference call. 'Tis the week of Black Friday. Hooray!!

Good night.
